Jersey is a handsome pup who is looking for a home. Jersey is with our rescue partner in Louisiana but can come to NJ if we find a foster or adopter. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial to approved adopters.
Meet Jersey, aka Jersey Boy, aka Jersey- John, aka J-man, aka Meatball von Waddlebutt!
Jersey is a 1-2 years old, male, 45lbs potato with legs! This stocky little fella is an absolute goofball with a great temperament despite his unfortunate previous "ownership". Jersey was abandoned not once but twice, and we just cant understand why!
Jersey crates well over night, for meal time, and for extended periods throughout the day. He knows a few basic commands like sit, down and paw. He's working on wait and walking more politely on the leash. Jersey's excitement to explore means he still pulls initially when walking, but because of his stature, he tires pretty quickly.
He currently lives with a smaller male dog and has met several other sized dogs with no issues or concern. He would be fine in a home with small children, although he does have a tendency to barrel through whatever is in front of him. no cats for this guy.
Jersey is very much an energy matcher, he is content laying around, loves toys and will self entertain, but also loves car rides with the windows down or a walk through the park.
Note from his foster: "Jersey is the happiest foster dog Ive ever had! He is smiling and wagging and playing from the moment he wakes up to the moment he rolls off the couch for bed!"
Jersey is fixed and up to date on vaccines. Jersey has started treatment for heartworm and can come to NJ once treatment is complete or can complete his treatment in NJ if we find a loving foster or adopter to help him through it. His adoption fee is $450.
Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
