Nova's Personality
Have you ever met a cat who chases her tail? Or one who is so unbothered by anything that she doesn’t even move for the Roomba? Introducing Nova...Supernova to her foster parents!
Nova is super cuddly, an expert at making morning biscuits, and wanting to be near her people. She looks like a cat poster and feels like a pillow. We love her mellow way and her kind personality. Not one to scratch or hiss about anything...if she’s bothered, she’ll roll over and force you to pet her belly. She’s a great all-around cat.
Nova will let you know when it’s time to eat and enjoys her wet food. She is also whistle-trained and comes to find you when you signal its time to eat. Sadly, Nova arrived in our care, along with her sister, Celeste (posted separately), very overweight and is, therefore, on a strict calorie and portion-controlled wet-food-only diet. She also gets one Churu and a couple of treats a day, which she sits for on command. When she’s not hanging with her foster parents, she LOVES watching wildlife and boating activities out of the many windows on a lake in her foster home. Chipmunks are her favorite, but she also likes to squeak at the birds. You’ll love this gentle, kind kitty.
What Type of Home Nova Needs
Nova will do well in a variety of different homes - from quiet to more active. Older kids would be fine, but no other pets. She will be happiest with a nice view of the great outdoors. This will keep her entertained for hours on end. Also a home with room to roam around and stairs would be ideal so she can get plenty of exercise.
What's MOST important is that Nova stays on a strict calorie and portion-controlled canned food diet. Her forever home must be committed to sticking with a strict weight management plan and monthly weight checks. We will supply a pet scale to keep her on track and are happy to stay in touch to assist with weight loss recommendations, if needed.
Where Nova Came From
Nova, and her sister Celeste, were adopted out as kittens to what we thought was a wonderful home. Sadly, their caretakers decided, just shy of their 8th birthdays, they didn’t want them anymore. However, based on their neglected condition, this has turned out to be a good thing for both girls. While otherwise healthy, Nova is very overweight. Getting her to a healthy weight of about 12 lbs will take time but will ensure better health and a longer life.
