Nolan is a lovable golden retriever mix with a heart full of sweetness and a dash of uncertainty. While he sometimes believes he's the confident leader of the pack, he truly thrives under the guidance of a gentle and assertive human who can help him understand his place. Nolan enjoys slow introductions to other dogs, showing a preference for females and getting along well with both big and small pups once friendships are established.
Though he’s had a few scuffles with male dogs, Nolan has a protective instinct that shines through when he senses his pack needs safeguarding. He'll step in to block any potential trouble, showcasing his natural guardian qualities. He can be quite the chatterbox, so a home without shared walls would be ideal for this talkative boy.
Nolan absolutely loves his food, but he can be a bit possessive around other dogs during mealtime, so he eats in his kennel where he keeps everything tidy. He’s making great strides with potty training, but since he’s only experienced a boarding environment, he may need a little extra supervision as he transitions to a home setting.
This sweet boy is looking for a kind, patient owner who understands his needs—preferably someone without cats and older, respectful children. Nolan doesn’t require a fenced yard, making him a great companion for someone ready to show him the love and leadership he craves. If you’re looking for a dog who is ready to bond and be a loyal friend, Nolan is waiting for you!
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
