Rook is a gentle sweetheart, an 8-year-old, 63-pound pittie mix who charms everyone he meets with his calm manners and affectionate nature. He enjoys neck scratches that he leans all the way into, butt scratches that inspire a joyful little dance, and relaxing and taking treats gently. On a recent field trip, he rode quietly in the car and even fell asleep on the way back. He pulled some on leash but stayed focused on his person and was easy to redirect. He had a great time getting his sniffs in, remaining neutral when passing people and wildlife. With other dogs, Rook has a lovely social style. He greets calmly with friendly sniffs and enthusiastic tail wags, and shows gentle play behaviors. He would do well with an appropriately matched canine companion or as a solo dog who enjoys having dog friends. Rook does have dry eye, also known as KCS. He has been very tolerant of eye cleaning and handling, but will need follow-up care with a veterinarian. If you are looking for a lovely, affectionate, low-drama companion with excellent cuddle skills, Rook is ready to be your best boy.
