Griffey is approximately 2 years old, 50lbs, all black Belgian Shepherd/Malinois/Beagle mix according to his brother's DNA. He's fully vetted and fixed, very athletic, loyal, and once he knows you, very affectionate. He's incredibly smart and does well following commands, making him a great candidate for obedience training. He is excellent with other dogs, walks very well on leash; cats unknown. He hasn’t been around children younger than 15 and given his uncertainty around new things, fast moving and unpredictable children may not be best suited for him. Griffey is protective of his household and its parameters and will need proper, consistent and committed training to overcome his stranger danger. When considering a dog like Griffey, his potential adopters need to visit with him a few times so Griffey gets acquainted with them. He's absolutely amazing and we can't say enough good things about him, that doesn't change the fact that he's a "project" dog. He will take time to trust his new owner so don't expect a lab with a happy wagging tail at first meet and greet. In case we didn't emphasize this enough, he is AMAZING with the right guardian.
