WINDY (female) and BOLT (male) are two adorable SMALL dogs looking for homes. Don't be fooled by the photos, these are knee-high dogs. WIndy is fully grown at 20 pounds and tiny Bolt is just 16 pounds. They are 1 year old mixed breed siblings who were found by park rangers after being dumped in a campground. Bolt and Windy survived a very scary situation -- they got too close to a mama bear and her cubs and the mama bear chased them. Thankfully they were quick enough to get away. These two could have had a very unhappy ending as a direct result of the irresponsible "human(s)" who dumped them. Now they are safe and sound and ready for a happy ending, We can make some guesses at the breeds included in their mix -- we suspect some chihuahua, some pug, maybe a little beagle and dachshund and terrier and heaven only knows what else. Both dogs are playful and sweet and friendly, both are okay with other small dogs and fine with cats. Bolt is not a fan of larger dogs and would probably be okay as an only dog. If you would like to meet Windy or Bolt, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Bolt and Windy at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate if they are still available.   All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.
