Are you ready for The Adventures of Tom Bombadil?!  6 year old Tom B came to us all the way from sunny LA where he was surrendered to a shelter by his family. While at the shelter he was neutered and then taken in by Pug Rescue of LA where he was treated for ear infections, an eye ulcer and got a dental.  Tom was able to stay with a foster family during his time in LA where he was well loved and cared for. While there he got over his initial marking behavior and he continues to do well in his current foster home. He is currently sleeping in a crate at night but loved snuggling in bed in his first foster home. Tom really loves his walks and in the nice weather would go on 3 a day! Here in the chilly Northeast, he is still loving his walks but needs a warm jacket to keep him toasty. During the day Tom B can be found chasing sun puddles, snuggling his foster siblings and playing with big stuffies or chew toys. He is a big lover and loves to cuddle and give kisses. Tom B has an atrophied eye with no vision. It does not cause him any pain, so no intervention is needed. He does get Puralube ointment to his healthy eye once daily. The cost of the prescription med is about $10 a tube and should last over a month. Because of his low vision and quite frankly other unknowns in his history, Tom B can get startled when approached from behind or the right side. He can protect himself by nipping, so care should be used to approach him from the front. He also has shown some resource guarding around food with other dogs, so he is being fed separately in his foster home. For the above-mentioned reasons, we will only seek a home with children over 12. Slow introductions to other dogs works best with Tom B as he can be a bit reactive. Letting him sniff and learn about the potential friend has worked well. Tom does not need another dog companion, he connects more with people, but another well-mannered well-adjusted companion could work fine and may help him with his confidence. Multiple daily walks Daily administration of eye medications costing approximately $10 monthly Commitments to lifelong medical needs of Tom B to include annual wellness visits and monthly flea, tick and heartworm prevention
